These Reindeer Pretzels are the perfect combination of colorful and crunchy, salty and sweet. And since they are no bake and involve minimal prep, they certainly a great holiday season treat.

These are an easy Christmas dessert to make with your kids, but easy enough for older kids to make unsupervised. They’ll enjoy decorating their cute little reindeers with candy, eyeballs and antlers.

  • Really quick and easy to make and firm up in the freezer in about 20 minutes.
  • It is budget friendly and made from simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredient Notes

  • Pretzels – use mini pretzel twists for this recipe. The regular sized ones will be too big
  • Chocolate chips – I prefer semi sweet since you get extra sweetness from the candy but the choice is yours.
  • Candy eyes – Use the white colored ones and make sure you get 2 for each reindeer. I have use multicolored eyes and that was fun.
  • Candy for the nose – M&Ms, Sixlets and other red or brown candy for this.

Recipe Tips

  • You will need to make sure you have extra pretzels for making antlers as some of these will break and not be usable as antlers.
  • Cut the pretzels in half with a sharp knife to make the antlers.
  • Make sure to have all ingredients laid out ready before toy start making this and you will need to work fast before the chocolate firms up.
  • Do line your sheet pan – as this will make it easier to peel of your firmed up cookies.
  • Do stick the antlers and the candy eyes and nose on immediately, whilst the chocolate is still soft, otherwise these may not stick on.
  • The easiest way to melt the chocolate is in short bursts in the microwave making sure to carefully stir the chocolate between each bursts. You can also use the double broiler method.

Budget Friendly Tips

  • Check out the sales –  Many stores regularly hold sales on min pretzels and chocolate. Look out for coupons or discounts on shopping apps.
  • Buy generic – Store own brand and other generic ingredients are often an inexpensive alternative.

Storage

  • Store – stored in an air-tight container for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze –  Freeze in an air-tight container for up to 3 months. It might be easier to freeze in snacking portions so you just defrost what you need.
  • Thaw – thaw at room temperature on your counter.

FAQs

Can I Make Rolo Pretzel Reindeers?

Certainly, you would lay the pretzels on a line baking sheet, place an unwrapped Rolo on instead of chocolate and then melt them very slightly in an oven at 350 for 2-3 minutes. Remove form the oven, work quickly and place on the antlers, eyes and nose before firming up in the freezer.
