Chocolate and crackers are a match made in heaven. Sprinkle on some colorful mini eggs and this becomes the BEST dessert ever. All kids (big and small) that have ever tried these think they totally rock.

These Saltine Cracker Candy Bars are really easy to make. You only need a few ingredients to make them. Make these before Easter or wait until after the holiday and make them using the leftover candy. Not that we need any excuse to make candy.

And while you’re at it, why not also make these No Bake Chex Bars or Easter Biscuit Waffles.

Why Make This Recipe

  • Fun for Kids – To help cook and then eat.
  • Frugal – Use leftover Easter candy.
  • Gifting – A great edible gift for friends and family.

Ingredient Notes

  • Chocolate – Use dark or milk chocolate or a mixture of the two.
  • Saltine crackers – use store-bought or homemade saltine crackers (soda crackers). Feel free to use graham crackers or Ritz crackers too.
  • Corn syrup – to help make the caramel.
  • Brown sugar – to help add sweetness. But you can use white sugar too.
  • Butter – Regular butter works fine, but you can use unsalted as well.
  • Mini Eggs – This popular Easter candy is gluten-free!

How To Make Cracker Candy

  1. Place crackers on a parchment-lined tray in a single layer.
  2. Melt brown sugar, syrup and butter and bring to a simmer. Bring to 300F / 149C degrees, then remove from heat, pour on top of the crackers, and spread it out evenly.
  3.  Allow it to set up for 10 minutes, then melt chocolate chips and spread evenly over the caramel.
  4. Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour, then remove and cut into serving-size pieces.

Tips For Success

  • Use an instant-read thermometer to make sure the caramel liquid reaches the right temperature.
  • Make sure the candy is completely cool before trying to cut or remove from the tray and before storing it.

Delicious Variations

  • Add More Candy – Mini Eggs are really popular, but you can add any of your favorite Easter candies.
  • Add Other Treats– chopped nuts, seeds, and dried fruit are also great choices.

Budget-Friendly Tips

  • Buy Candy After the Holiday – Candy is often marked down in a day or two following a holiday. Hit the store early and stock up on your favorites at a fraction of the price.
  • Watch for Sales –  Many stores offer sales on crackers and chocolate regularly. You can also find coupons or discounts on shopping apps.
  • Buy Generic – Store-brand or generic ingredients are an inexpensive option.

Make Ahead And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – Make these the day before a party or gathering.
  • Store – Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container on the counter, in dry conditions for 5-7 days.
