This easy fruit salad is full of flavor and contains ingredients you probably already have on hand. It’s so easy to prepare that the kids can make it unsupervised.

You are only 4 ingredients away from enjoying a delicious fruit salad.

All that’s needed is to slice some strawberries, kiwis, and mango. Then simply toss them all together along with some juicy blueberries and easy dressing, then top it off with poppy seeds for a nice crunch.

This is a great way to use up any leftovers during fruit season and it’s highly adaptable to make with any sort of fruit you like.

A delicious breakfast, dessert or snack that the whole family will love. Just as they would these colorful Fruit Popsicles and Strawberry Pasta Salad.

Why Make This Recipe

  • Easy – Simple to make in just a few minutes.
  • Flavorful and Colorful – So it’s a treat for the eyes and the palate.
  • Kid-Friendly – Kids love this dish, so it is perfect for any time.
  • Budget friendly – Made with affordable ingredients and you can use up leftovers.

Ingredient Notes

  • Fruit – this uses kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, and mango. Look below for suggestions of other fruit to use.
  • Maple syrup – use your favorite maple syrup, or use honey if not vegan.
  • Lime juice – I like using lime juice, but lemon juice will also work.
  • Poppy seeds – These add a little extra crunch. Feel free to omit if you don’t like them or don’t have any.

Tips For Success

  • This salad works best with ripe fruit, so choose ripe but firm fruit.
  • Don’t cut fruit too small, as smaller pieces will get too squishy.

Other Fruit You Can Add

  • Pineapples
  • Blackberries
  • Seedless grapes
  • Seedless mandarin oranges
  • Pears
  • Watermelon
  • Papaya

You can also add bananas, but if so then add at the last minute as they tend to brown and get mushy when stored in the fridge.

Delicious Variations

  • Make it citrusy – add some lemon or lime zest and also a little orange zest.
  • Add more crunch – toss in some slivered almonds or shredded coconut for even more crunch and great texture.

Budget-Friendly Tips

  • Make when fruit is in season – Choose fruits that are in season as they will be more affordable.
  • Add more inexpensive fruit-  Add in more of the cheaper fruit and use less of the more expensive fruit.
  • Granola on the side – serve with granola and yogurt on the side for breakfast and dessert.

Make Ahead And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – I think this is one of those recipes that tastes nice after a couple of hours. Prep ahead 2-3 hours beforehand, refrigerate, and mix occasionally for the fruit salad to develop.
  • Store – Store leftovers in an airtight container the fridge for up to 24 hours. It is best if you remove as much air as possible so probably easiest with a ziptop bag.
  • Freeze – I don’t recommend freezing this recipe.

FAQs

Can I Use Frozen Fruit?

I don’t recommend using frozen fruit as thawed fruits end up mushy. Save your frozen fruit for smoothies and baked goods.

How To Avoid Fruit Going Brown?

If you use fruit that go brown, like apples and bananas then squeeze some lime or lemon juice over them as soon as you have finished cutting them up.
