Get full ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.
- Use a paring knife to cut out the top of a croissant and scoop out some of the bread in the middle.
- Add a quarter-cup of Nutella to the center of each croissant and spread it with a knife.
- Top each croissant with a fourth of the mini marshmallows.
- Bake at 350F / 180C for 10-12 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown on top.
Tips For Success
- Cut the croissants from the top rather than the sides and scoop out a little extra bread to make a boat shape.
- Line your baking sheet with foil or parchment for quick and easy cleanup.
- Larger croissants are better as you have more space to fill up.
Variations
- Add Fruit – Add sliced strawberries, bananas, or even a spoonful of jelly before topping with marshmallows.
- Go Nutty – Add a bit of peanut butter or sprinkle the top with chopped peanuts, pecans, or walnuts.
- Make it Savory – cheese, mushroom, bacon, peppers, sausage, and more are all good options.
Budget-Friendly Tips
- Buy Day Old Croissants – Since these are filled and baked, day-old croissants work perfectly and can often be purchased at a discount.
- Stock Up and Freeze – Croissants and Marshmallows both freeze well for several months. Stock up when they are on sale.
- Buy Generic – Nutella can be expensive. Look for store brand chocolate hazelnut spread.
Make Ahead and Storage
Prep Ahead – Prepare the boats in advance and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours until ready to bake.
Store – Store leftovers in the fridge. Reheat in the oven; however, the croissant may become hard.
Freeze – Follow the handy tips below for how to freeze these;
- Assemble the S’mores boats.
- Wrap with plastic wrap and foil and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Thaw on the counter or bake directly from frozen. Adjust cooking time as needed.
FAQs
What Other Bread Can I Use For These Breakfast Boats?
Use any soft, sweet bread such as brioche or sweet rolls. You can also use crescent rolls.
Can I Microwave These?
We do not recommend microwaving. The croissant will not get crispy, and marshmallows will melt very quickly in the microwave, which will lead to them burning before the rest of the ingredients get warm.
