Like this Ninja Creami Orange Julius Ice Cream, I always have a batch or 2 in the freezer for hot summer days, summer parties and pool parties, birthday parties, for backyard BBQs and 4th of July parties.
I serve it up as is, but also as part of an ice cream sundae with sprinkles and fruit, pies, cakes, brownies, and more. So much yum!

Recipe Tips
- Let it freeze for a full 24 hours. It is best that the ice cream base be fully frozen in order to process correctly.
- If you don’t like waiting (like me), then prep and freeze more than one pint at a time.
- Ice cream not smooth enough? Use the re-spin function. And if it’s still not the right texture, simply add a splash of cream or milk and re-spin again.
- You can add more or less sugar depending on your taste.
- If you plan to add mix-ins, chill them in advance for the best results.
Easy Variations
- Add mix ins – feel free to add in chocolate chips, dried fruit pieces, toffee pieces, and more as mix-ins.
- Add vanilla – feel free to add vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste to the base.
- Use frozen berries – just make sure they are thawed first.
- Vary the cream – if you prefer you can use half and half or single cream, but this will make it less creamy.
Storage
- Prep Ahead – Plan to prep ahead as you’ll need to freeze the ice cream base for at least 24 hours before you process it.
- Storage – This ice cream can be kept frozen in an airtight freezer-safe container for up to a month.
FAQs
Unlike other ice cream making methods you may have used, the Ninja Creami lacks a cooling mechanism. Therefore the ice cream mixture must be fully frozen in order to achieve a smooth, creamy ice cream texture when processing.
You can store this Ninja Creami ice cream in the freezer for several weeks. Smooth out the fully processed mixture so it’s even and flat, cover it, and freeze again. When you are ready to enjoy it again, simply run it on the same setting used the first time and enjoy.
If the ice cream is icy, it may be because:
1. The freezer is too cold. Try letting your frozen ice cream sit on your counter for about 10 minutes to warm it up a bit before processing.
2. The base may not have enough fat—you could try adding some extra dairy with a high fat content.
3. The base may not have enough sugar. Try adding a bit more, granulated sugar, honey, or corn syrup and re-spinning.
