Ingredient Notes
For the ham
- 3-4 Pound Ham – this recipe calls for uncooked boneless ham.
- Veggies – carrot, celery, and onion make a flavorful broth for the ham to cook in. Feel free to add a little more veggies.
- Aromatics – this dish gets flavor from a mixture of peppercorns, allspice, fresh thyme sprigs, and fresh rosemary sprigs. Add more or less to your taste.
- Water – for the cooking broth.

For honey glaze
- Honey – use your favorite honey.
- Mustard – use your favorite mustard. It helps add body to the glaze and a little heat.
- Sugar – helps create that sticky caramelized coating that is classic with this recipe. Feel free to use brown sugar.

Cook the ham
- Place ham, onion, carrot, peppercorns, celery, thyme, and rosemary into the crockpot.
- Add enough water to cover the ham, then cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until the ham is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F / 63 degrees C. Total cook time will depend on how big your ham is.
- When done, remove from the cooking liquid and allow it to cool slightly.
- Trim skin and excess fat, making sure to leave a thin layer. Score the ham by making shallow cuts along the top of the thicker skin into squares.
Glaze and bake it
- Preheat the oven to 380 degrees F / 190 degrees C / gas mark 5 and line a baking sheet.
- Prepare the glaze by combining honey, mustard, and sugar until well-mixed.
- Place ham on the baking sheet cut-side down, brush the ham with half of the marinade, and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the ham, brush on the remaining marinade, and bake for another 20 minutes.
- Let the ham cool completely if you want to serve it cold. Cut into thin slices and serve.

Recipe Tips and Variations
- Vary the sweetener – use maple syrup instead for a deeper flavor.
- Make a honey balsamic glaze for a more tangy-sweet flavor.
- Feel free to add some cranberry jelly to the glaze.
- Don’t worry if you cut a little too deep when scoring the ham; that just means there’s more surface area for the glaze to reach.
- Allow the cooked ham to rest before slicing so as not to lose juice and flavor.

FAQs
Boneless ham – plan for around ½ pound per person
