Variations
- Swap the Seasoning – This seasoning blend brings so much flavor, but you can use what you have on hand or add a store-bought seasoning blend.
- Make Them Spicy – Add a pinch of cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes to the seasoning to make these wings spicy.
- Add A Sauce – The seasoning on the wings gives them incredible flavor, and they are perfect on their own, but you can certainly brush the wings with your favorite sauce while cooking or serve with various dipping sauces.
Budget-Friendly Tips
- Buy Frozen Wings – Frozen chicken wings are often cheaper by the pound than fresh wings. Be sure to thaw them thoroughly before cooking.
Prep Ahead And Storage
- Prep Ahead – Thaw frozen wings before cooking.
- Store – Leftover wings can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days but will not be as crispy when reheated. Reheating on the grill or in the oven will yield the best results.
- Freeze – We do not recommend freezing this grilled chicken wings recipe, especially if the chicken has been previously frozen.
FAQs
We love frozen wings because they are often more affordable than fresh wings. Just be sure to thaw them completely before serving. I like to pop them into a bowl in the fridge and let them thaw overnight.
An outdoor grill is ideal for parties, and cleanup is a breeze, but you can also cook quickly in a grill pan on the stovetop.
In addition to the dry rub, you may want to add a sauce to the wings. You can add sauce before or during grilling, but it can be susceptible to burning. I prefer to grill my wings and brush or toss them with a sauce before serving.
These wings pair well with almost any dipping sauce. Some of my favorites include ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, honey mustard, your favorite BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, hot sauce, and more!
