This cozy Gingerbread Martini, a fun and easy Christmas Martini that tastes just like a freshly baked gingerbread cookie.

I am a fan of gingerbread everything. And I really do mean gingerbread everything. I am talking gingerbread candles lit everyday October to January, my fav Ninja Creami Gingerbread Ice Cream, gingerbread cookies and more.
So, imagine my excitement at discovering the Gingerbread Martini. And want to know the best part? It’s really shockingly easy to whip up. Which means, I make it 53261 times every single year. Great addition to my Christmas Cocktails list.
Why You’ll Love This Gingerbread Cocktail
It’s simple, cozy, and absolutely foolproof. Here’s why it’s a keeper:
- Festive fun: Just think warm, cozy spices, rich and creamy, aka gingerbread cookie in cocktail form.
- Ridiculously simple: You only need a few ingredients and a quick shake.
- Make ahead: I make this ahead, refrigerate, and simply serve it when family and friends walk in the door.
- It is versatile: I serve it as both a standalone dessert or an awesome dessert cocktail. I don’t need to decide between either.
- Customizable: I love that I can adjust the sweetness, or turn it into a mocktail.

Ingredient Notes & Easy Variations
The beauty of this Christmas cocktail is that it isn’t one of those complicated drinks that requires fancy steps or a dozen ingredients. Just simple things you probably already have in your pantry.
- Vodka: I tend to use vanilla vodka for that dessert-like flavor, but regular vodka with a little dash of vanilla extract works perfectly. Caramel vodka works well too.
- Irish Cream liqueur: I prefer adding richness and creamy flavor with Baileys but feel free to use any creamy liqueur you already have. I love using RumChata too. To make it dairy free swap Irish Cream (and coffee liqueur below) for almond or coconut cream liqueur, and use a plant-based milk.
- Coffee liqueur: I tend to add in some coffee liqueur too Kahlúa being my favorite, but add whichever brand you like.
- Gingerbread syrup: Feel free to use store bought ones like Torani and Monin versions, or whip up your own with 1 tablespoon molasses + ½ teaspoon ground ginger + ¼ teaspoon cinnamon + tiny pinch of nutmeg.
- Ice cubes: Grab some homemade or store-bought.
- Caramel sauce: This is optional but I love using this for the rim (along with a pinch of salt) as well as for drizzling pretty patterns in the glass.
- Optional garnish: Whipped cream, cinnamon dust, cookie crumbs, Allspice all finished with a mini gingerbread man or gingersnap (just because we can).

How To Make It

- Prepare the glass. Drizzle caramel around the rim of a martini glass. Let some drip inside the glass for a decorative swirl. Pop the glass in the freezer for 2 – 3 minutes so the caramel sets slightly.
- Shake the cocktail. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, Irish cream, coffee liqueur, and gingerbread syrup (or molasses mix). Shake vigorously for 15 – 20 seconds until frosty and creamy.
- Serve and garnish. Strain into the prepared glass. Top with optional extras of like whipped cream, a caramel drizzle, a sprinkle of cinnamon or a mini cookie.

Simple Variations
Here are aaaaaaaaall the ways to do it your way.
- For a white chocolate version, add in about 1 oz white chocolate liqueur or a tablespoon of melted white chocolate to the shaker.
- For an espresso gingerbread martini, mix in a shot of cooled espresso.
- I looove a coconut version by adding in, coconut milk or coconut cream instead of Irish cream. Yes please, for a tropical winter twist.
- For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with a handful of ice.
- Fancy a non-alcoholic version (aka mocktail)? I got you. Swap out the vodka with cold brew coffee or almond milk, and Irish cream with non-dairy creamer.
Bintu’s Tips For Success
I’ve made this enough times to know that these tips and tricks make a big difference:
- Your drink may separate after storing. This is all normal, just give it a quick shake and then serve.
- If you want a little less alcohol in your drink, then simply cut the vodka in half and replace the rest with milk or cream.
- Fancy making you own gingerbread syrup? I got you. Simmer equal parts brown sugar and water with ginger, cinnamon, and molasses for 10 minutes. Strain and cool.
Make Ahead & Hosting Tips and Storage
One of my favorite things about this recipe is how make-ahead friendly it is. You can easily mix a large batch (without the ice), refrigerate, shake when needed and serve.
- A tip for party batching – Keep the non-dairy components aka vodka and syrup mixed up for up to a week and then add the dairy right before serving.
- Storage – Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Don’t freeze – This will not work well due to the dairy.
Serving Suggestions
You can serve this Christmas Martini as is, but this goes very well with gingerbread cookies, pecan pie or similar pies, tiramisu, or coffee or chocolate truffles.
