Easter Oreo Balls
So friends, this is one of those desserts or Easter activities you don’t want to miss out on making. Oreos are a pantry staple in our house and lets say in most houses.
Easter can be just as stressful as Christmas prep and the long awaited Easter egg hunt is always a family favorite. So, I love this dessert as you can call in all your little (and big) helpers to make and decorate these.
They’re kept busy, buy a few more Oreos as they definitely will be taste testing them. And, move over Oreo dunk challenge and all other challenges, this fun Oreo activity is the way to go this Easter. And these Best Easter Recipes as well as this No Bake Easter Fluff Salad as well as Easter Egg Cheesecake Dip work a treat.
Why Make This Recipe
- Made in under an hour – With all the Easter dishes, this is one that only take 1 hour and I happily outsource it.
- Edible Gift – My children adore gift giving, my poor neighbors have been the taste testers of all sorts of items over the years. They’re always so polite, I am sure its the sugar rush talking. Let’s just say they measure with their hearts.
- Fun to make – These are a fun Easter activity that our family adores doing.

What’s Needed
This one is super simple. Follow my tips for the best results.
- Golden Oreos – I have used the Golden Oreos but the standard chocolate Oreos or Lemon Oreos work too.
- Cream cheese – I’ve used full fat cream cheese at room temperature.
- White chocolate chips or candy coating – Pre coated is the way to go if you want this to be quicker.
- Pastel-colored food coloring – I prefer an oil-based food coloring as I have found a water-based food coloring could cause your white chocolate or candy coating to seize up while mixing.
- Easter-themed or pastel-colored sprinkles – Choose whichever Easter themed sprinkles you like.

How To Make These Truffles
Let’s go through the process of making these truffles step by step. Get full ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.
- In the bowl of a large food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until fine crumbs appear.
- Add the cream cheese and blend until smooth and no lumps remain. Remove the bowl, then cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes until firm.
- Prepare a baking sheet with a layer of parchment paper. Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to scoop out portions of the truffle mixture roughly 1.5 tablespoons in volume.
- Roll into balls between the palms of your hands and place them onto your prepared baking sheet. Cover the baking sheet and freeze for 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate chips or candy coating according to the package directions.
- If you want to you can separate the melted candy coating (or just use one color) into 4 bowls, then color them with food coloring, mixing thoroughly until the colored coating is smooth and no streaks are visible.
- Working as quickly as you can, lower the chilled Oreo truffle balls one at a time into the melted candy coating. Lift out of the candy coating using a fork, and allow any excess coating to drain off back into the bowl.
- Gently place the coated Oreo truffle balls back onto your parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Drizzle additional colors of melted candy coating over each truffle ball and top with sprinkles, if desired. Allow to set and harden, then serve

Bintu’s Recipe Tips And Variations
I’ve added some tips if you are new to making truffles.
- Use room temperature cream cheese. It just blends better and smoother with the other ingredients and without any lumps.
- Use oil based food coloring. Water based food coloring tends to seize with chocolate coating. You can however fix it by adding in one teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil.
- Use a piping bag. If you want to add a decorative look on top of the chocolate use a piping bag. It helps you to have better control of the design.
Storage
- Make ahead – You can make these 5 days in advance.
- Store – The truffles can be kept in the fridge for up to 5 days.
- Freeze – I don’t recommend freezing them as the outer chocolate coat goes dull. If you choose to they can be frozen for up to 3 months.
