I love cooling down with refreshing iced tea and lemonade when it’s hot outside. And pulling through the drive-through at my local coffee shop is convenient, but it can be expensive.

When I’m trying to stick to a budget, making my own copycat drink at home is the perfect solution.

Making this passion tea lemonade Starbucks copycat recipe is simple and only requires a few easy-to-find ingredients like Tazo passion tea bags. I keep a box in my pantry so I’m prepared anytime I’m in the mood for a refreshing glass of tea.

How To Make Passion Tea Lemonade

Get the full ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan, switch off the heat and add in the tea bags and hibiscus leaves and lets steep for 15 for at least minutes.
  2. Discard tea bags and hibiscus, and let the cool.
  3.  Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. When ready to serve, fill a glass with half lemonade and half passion tea and top with ice or frozen fruit.

How To Make Instant Pot Passion Tea Lemonade

  1. To prepare the tea place water, tea bags and hibiscus leaves into the instant pot. 
  2. Close, seal, select pressure cook / manual at high pressure for 3 minutes followed by a natural pressure release.
  3. Discard the tea bags and hibiscus, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. When ready to serve, fill a glass with half lemonade and half passion tea and top with ice or frozen fruit.

Tips For Success

  • Remove the tea bags once they’ve steeped for 15-minutes or they will become bitter.
  • Store tea and lemonade separately and mix just before serving. 

Variations

  • Make it Lighter – Use a light lemonade for a drink with less sugar. 
  • Swap the Tea – Follow the same concept but use different flavored tea bags. 
  • Add Simple Syrup or Sugar –  If you like your drink a little sweeter, add a bit of simple syrup or sugar.
  • Add Honey – To make the dink more naturally sweet, add some honey or a touch of maple syrup.

  • Buy Tea On Sale – Tea bags can be stored indefinitely so buy them on sale and store them in the pantry. 
  • Buy Frozen Lemonade – Frozen lemonade is available at a fraction of the cost of bottled lemonade and can be kept on hand for whenever the mood strikes to make Passion Tea Lemonade.

Make Ahead And Storage

Prep Ahead – Brew the tea ahead of time so it has plenty of time to cool before you mix your drink.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups (1.89L) water
  • 5 Tazo Passion Tea bags
  • Pinch hibiscus leaves optional
  • 8 cups (1.89L) lemonade
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

Stovetop Version

  • Bring water to the boil in a saucepan, switch off the heat and add in the tea bags, hibiscus leaves (if using). Let steep for 15 minutes.
  • Discard tea bags and hibiscus leaves, let cool and then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • When ready to serve, fill glasses with half lemonade and half passion tea and add in ice or frozen fruit.

Instant Pot Version

  • To prepare the tea, place water, tea bags and hibiscus leaves (if using) into the Instant Pot insert.
  • Close the lid, turn the valve to sealing, select pressure cook / manual at high pressure for 3 minutes. When done, allow for a natural pressure release.
  • Remove the tea bags and hibiscus and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • When ready to serve, fill glasses with half lemonade and half passion tea and add in ice or frozen fruit.

Notes
