Easy Chicken Parmesan Sliders

These sliders are so easy to make because we’re using already breaded chicken tenders like these crispy Oven Baked Chicken Tenders you can make today. It’s so simple that you’ll want to add this recipe to your regular rotation.

They are also perfect for using up leftover chicken and leftover marinara sauce, so they are budget-friendly as well. And if you love this you’ll love this easy Instant Pot Chicken Parmesan too.

Why Make This Recipe

  • Super Simple – Just assemble and bake.
  • Kid-Friendly – Kids love Italian recipes, so this is sure to be a family favorite with all that melted cheese.
  • Perfect for A Crowd – When served with other appetizers, these are perfect for a party. Make a double batch so everyone can come back for seconds.

Ingredient Notes

  • Hawaiian Slider Buns – They have a touch of sweetness. You can use plain slider buns or Hawaiian sweet rolls if you prefer.
  • Breaded Chicken Tenders – Skip the breading process and buy already breaded tenders (chicken strips) or breaded chicken breast.
  • Marinara Sauce – We prefer a deep red sauce but use your favorite brand of tomato sauce or pasta sauce.
  • Mozzarella cheese – Buy pre- shredded mozzarella cheese or shred it yourself.
  • Parmesan – Look for the freshly grated or shredded parmesan cheese rather than the powdery canned stuff.
  • Butter – Adds salty goodness to the top of these sliders.
  • Italian Seasoning – This seasoning blend usually contains basil, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, and thyme.

How To Make Chicken Parmesan Sliders

Get full ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and cook chicken according to the package directions.
  2. Slice Hawaiian slider buns or rolls in half horizontally and lay the bottom halves in a baking dish or baking sheet – toast for three minutes in the preheated oven.
  3. Place the cooked chicken onto the bottom half toasted sliders and top with sauce, mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese , and the top bun.
  4. Brush top half pf each bun with melted butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes until everything is hot, buns are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Best if you serve immediately.

Note: Cooking times do not include the time needed to cook the chicken.

Tips For Success

  • Pre-toast the bottom buns to prevent them from getting soggy.
  • Use pizza sauce instead of marinara if you prefer a thicker sauce.
  • Serve these hot, right out of the oven.
  • If you don’t want the rolls to go brown, then cover in foil and bake.

Variations

  • Use Grilled Chicken – If you love the flavors but want something a little lighter, use grilled chicken instead of breaded.
  • Use Chicken Nuggets – use chicken nuggets instead if you have these.
  • Make It Spicy – Use a spicy marinara or add some crushed red pepper for a bit of heat. You can also top each slider with a few sliced pepperoncini before adding the top bun.
  • Garlic butter – brush the top of the buns with garlic butter instead – you can use fresh garlic or garlic powder.

Budget-Friendly Tips

  • Use Leftover Chicken – Got leftover breaded chicken tenders or breasts from earlier in the week? This recipe is perfect for using them up. Also great to use leftover rotisserie chicken. You can use frozen chicken too, just cook it first before adding on the slider buns.
  • Freeze Leftover Sauce – This recipe only requires 1-1 ½ cups of sauce, so pour the remaining sauce into freezer bags and freeze for later use. Don’t forget to date and label the bags.
  • Shred Your Own Cheese – Block cheese is often less-expensive than pre-shredded cheese, and it’s easy to shred at home.
  • Make an Italian Seasoning Blend – Use a mix of basil, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, and thyme. This allows you to use spices you already have on hand.
  • Use any rolls – feel free to use your leftover dinner rolls.

Make Ahead And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – These sandwiches taste best when they are served directly after cooking. To save a little time, you can pre-cook the chicken up to 24 hours in advance and reheat it a bit before assembling the sandwiches.
  • Store – You can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze – Freezing this recipe is not recommended.

FAQs

Do I Need To Pre-Cook The Chicken?

Yes. The time in the oven will toast the buns, heat the sauce and melt the cheese but will not cook the chicken. Cook the chicken according to the package directions before assembling these sandwiches.

You can use fresh or frozen chicken for this just make sure it is fully cooked.
