- Prepare the marinade and marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours.
- Dredge the chicken in the flour and spice mixture. Be sure to coat all sides of the chicken. Add to the air fryer basket and lightly spray with cooking oil.
- Cook chicken for 10-16 minutes, turning halfway through cooking, and spray with oil once again.
- Begin checking for doneness at about 12 minutes. Always check for doneness with a meat thermometer. The temperature should be 165 F when inserted into the thickest part of chicken breasts.

Air Fryer Fried Chicken
Ingredients
Marinade
- 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs
- ½ cup (121g) buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Seasoned Flour
- 1 cup (136g) all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Mix buttermilk, hot sauce, and garlic powder into a bowl and marinate chicken for up to 4 hours.
- In another bowl combine, flour, corn-starch, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Preheat Air Fryer to 400F / 200C.
- Remove chicken from marinade, and dredge both sides in the seasoned flour until it is well coated. Repeat for all the pieces.
- Place breaded chicken in the Air Fryer basket, leaving space between the pieces and lightly spray with oil.
- Cook for 10-16 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken. Halfway through cooking, spray the chicken with oil to cover the flour spots and carefully turn the chicken to cook both sides evenly.
